She had not thought of Jon in ages. He was only her half brother, but still …  Jon Snow was the only brother that remained to her. I am a bastard too now, just like him. Oh, it would be so sweet, to see him once again. But of course that could never be. Alayne Stone had no brothers, baseborn or otherwise.

“Your grace,” she says.

“My lady.”

They look at each other, through piles pounds and leagues and years of masks and hate and lies.

“This is nice,” she says quietly, just barely beating the wind.

Oh, and that makes Jon smile. He cannot help it that he does. “I never knew you for a liar.”

She tilts her head defiantly. “I never knew you for a king.”

It’s a long moment before the laughter, which is hesitant and unfamiliar to the both of them. Sansa raises her head and looks up at the sky, where the sharp flakes of winter snow are slowly swirling down.

“Winter is coming,” she says slowly, and then takes his arm. “Come inside, brother.”

And as she leads him toward the rebuilt ruins of his childhood home, Jon wants to taste all sorts of forgotten words that he hasn’t said in years. “Silly sister,” he decides on. “Winter is already here.”
